UK - Doctor Who isn't quite over yet, even though the current series ended 28 days ago. Since most people don't have tickets to the live show, this one's a radio performance: BBC Radio Three http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3 is simulcasting the 2010 Doctor Who Proms Concert on Saturday 24 July. Concert coverage will be from 7:30PM to 8:20PM and from 8:40PM to 9:45PM BST. At 8:20PM BST, the twenty minute special "Twenty Minutes - Dance With The Daleks" looks at 47 years of music in Doctor Who. BBC Radio 3 is streamed live on the BBC's website where anyone can hear it around the world. The programs will also be available for 7 days after broadcast through the listen again/radio iPlayer, again available to listeners around the world. If you are in Canada or the USA, the concert and the music documentary will be hours before series finale The Big Bang airs on BBC America or SPACE. It will conflict with BBC America's daylong marathon of the current series, but since BBC America will be airing edited prints during the marathon, I'd say a new concert takes priority. |
NEW ZEALAND - Prime airs the current series finale The Big Bang on Sunday 25 July at 7:30PM. Episodes repeat on Fridays at 9:40PM about 3 weeks after the Sunday premiere. |

CANADA - The final episode airs tonight, 24 July. SPACE has the most ambitious Doctor Who finale coverage of all the networks this year. At 9PM ET/6PM PT - The Big Bang premieres in a 70 minute slot (2 repeats on Sunday). At 10:10PM ET/7:10PM PT - a live 50 minute special edition of SPACE's "Innerspace" series looks back at this year's Doctor Who in a Canada wide event (various 50 and 45 minute repeats through the weekend). Then, at 11PM ET/8PM PT - the Canadian English Language premiere of the Christmas 2007 episode Voyage of the Damned, which CBC omitted during their run of Doctor Who - 95 minute slot on premiere, 100 minute slot for the Sunday afternoon repeat. Thanks to the people who spotted schedule changes on SPACE for the 24th. |

WE INTERRUPT THIS COLUMN for breaking news about Voyage of the Damned in Canada. After not bothering to schedule the episode for 2 years and 7 months, the CBC is going to air this special. The CBC premiere is on their cable station Bold - Wednesday 28 July 11PM EDT. The episode will be uncut in a 2 hour slot, which should give time for 48 minutes of commercials. Note that this is 4 days after the uncut SPACE channel premiere with a smaller supply of commericals. Congratulations to CBC for finally airing the episode and for realizing the value of airing it uncut. Just don't dare call it a premiere. |

USA - On 24 July (today for most readers) BBC America will repeat the first 12 episodes in a marathon from 9AM to 9PM Eastern Time. Expect The Eleventh Hour, The Vampires Of Venice, Vincent And The Doctor, and The Pandorica Opens to be cut down to 46 minutes each for commercials. The Time Of Angels/Flesh And Stone and The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood will be edited into movies for that marathon. BBC America's premiere of The Big Bang will be Saturday 24 July at 9PM EDT, with the approximately 54 minute episode airing in 60 minutes with extremely limited commercial interruptions. The 3 showings that night will be uncut. The Big Bang will probably be edited down to 46 minutes when it airs with The Pandorica Opens on 26 July in a movie version. |

USA - Thanks for everybody who took part in the #17JulyWhoPlan campaign last week to boost the ratings for The Pandorica Opens and to make a point to BBC America that shows should air uncut and that the audiences will happily follow shows that are in unconventional time slots. I also thank the people who disagreed, who said that audiences would not happily follow shows in odd length timeslots even if it meant that the shows were uncut. The more discussion and debate on the issue, the more BBC America might take a minute to check back through their ratings history to see just what shows got them the highest audiences. In the case of BBC America at least, if they ever do that, we'll probably see more unedited shows and odd length time slots when necessary to air the shows unedited. :) |

While TWIDW no longer has podcast listings, most of the Doctor Who podcasts online have united for publicity as the Doctor Who Podcast alliance http://www.doctorwhopodcastalliance.org . The podcasters are doing very exciting things these days. Stay tuned. |
